Rawalpindi: The Punjab government plans to lay the foundation stone for two infrastructure projects – Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) and Leh Expressway – in July, a news source reported.
As part of its budget announcement for the (fiscal year) FY2019-20, the provincial government recently allocated funds worth PKR 40 billion and PKR 70 billion for the RRR and Leh Expressway projects, respectively.
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Arif Abbasi will reportedly brief Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan about the two projects next week. Abbasi stated that the civic agency has prepared its recommendations for completing the RRR project on a Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
The Leh Expressway extension project includes stretching it by eight kilometres, along with some changes which will be made to its infrastructure. These proposed changes include development of an additional space for a commercial area, and construction of sewerage drain and flood channel facilities.
