Gwadar: In a significant step toward improving air connectivity in Balochistan’s coastal region, private airline South Air has launched its first trial flight service between Karachi and Gwadar.
The trial flight successfully landed at the New Gwadar International Airport, marking an important milestone in efforts to enhance travel and transport facilities in the region.
According to the airport’s flight schedule, South Air flight Z8-905 departed from Karachi at 12 noon on Tuesday and arrived at the New Gwadar International Airport at 3:40pm.
The development comes as the airport, built under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework, moves toward improved operational readiness. It is expected to facilitate smoother movement of passengers, cargo, and services in the coastal belt.

Officials and stakeholders say the new air link is likely to significantly reduce travel time between Gwadar, Karachi, Quetta, and other cities, while also supporting trade, tourism, and broader development activity across the Makran division.
A spokesperson for the private airline said improved connectivity between Gwadar’s seaport and its international airport could help transform the city into a modern commercial and transit hub, where maritime and air transport systems complement each other.
The development is also expected to create employment opportunities, encourage business activity, and contribute to the region’s overall economic growth.
