Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has disbursed PKR 80 million in interest-free loans to over 15,000 small business owners in the Khyber district, aiming to boost economic activity in the region.
According to the Small Industries Development Board (SIDB), the initiative — part of a 13-year-old programme — is designed to support micro and small enterprises in the merged districts, including Landi Kotal, Jamrud, and Bara.

Officials said the scheme has maintained a 100% recovery rate in the Khyber district, reflecting strong repayment discipline among beneficiaries. They added that the loans have helped residents establish and expand various businesses, ranging from retail shops to service ventures.
The KP government has announced plans to continue the programme to promote entrepreneurship and create sustainable livelihoods in the region.
