Rawalpindi: The government has introduced an online taxation system to facilitate the business community, according to Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Haroon Sharif.
The BOI chief expressed his views on the matter during a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). Other officials concerned were also present at the occasion.
Sharing the details of the new system, Sharif said that different departments are now interlinked through e-portals. He added that this initiative forms part of the government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ programme.
In a similar effort, the government will introduce a single taxation system. To facilitate this end, forty-five taxes have been clubbed in so far. The chairman remarked that the incumbent government wants businessmen to run their operations smoothly.
The BOI head also sought suggestions with regard to improving foreign direct investment (FDI). He said that sectors such as tourism, agriculture, real estate, and poultry have enormous potential for growth.
