Islamabad: Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), succeeding Kuwait at the fifth General Assembly session of the organisation.
Addressing the session, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the DCO’s mission of promoting inclusive digital transformation and international cooperation. She said Pakistan, as a founding member, remains fully supportive of the organisation’s efforts to foster shared digital growth among member states.
The DCO, launched in November 2020 by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait, serves as a multilateral platform focused on advancing the digital economy and addressing cross-border digital challenges. The organisation’s annual General Assembly brings together member states and international partners to align policies and priorities in the digital domain.

As council president, Pakistan will play an enhanced role in guiding the DCO’s workstreams, strengthening cooperation on digital economy initiatives, and contributing to discussions on emerging technologies, digital skills development, data governance and artificial intelligence.
The leadership role is expected to expand Pakistan’s engagement in global digital policy discussions and reinforce its participation in shaping frameworks for responsible and inclusive digital growth among DCO member countries.
