Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to expand the operational scope of the Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority (PERA), allowing it to provide enforcement assistance to major provincial departments, including the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Overseas Pakistanis Commission, and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).
According to officials, a formal proposal to approve this expansion will be presented in the upcoming PERA Authority meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman serving as vice-chairperson. The decision follows formal requests from the concerned organisations seeking coordinated enforcement support from PERA.

Authorities have also finalized an internal whistleblower mechanism aimed at enhancing accountability and transparency within PERA. The system—now extended to all districts—will enable citizens to securely report any misuse of authority or violations by PERA officials directly to senior officers.
Currently, PERA has become operational across all divisional and district headquarters and is expected to be fully functional in all tehsils by December. Work is also progressing on 154 approved enforcement stations, with nearly half nearing completion.
Officials said the move marks a major step toward building a centralised enforcement support system that will bring uniformity, efficiency, and accountability across Punjab’s regulatory framework.
PERA Director-General Captain Farrukh Ateeq Khan stated that the authority’s approach will be based on ethical enforcement, ensuring that “offenders will be treated as violators, not criminals,” underscoring PERA’s commitment to fairness and transparency in operations.
