Islamabad: The Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF), in collaboration with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has moved its flagship housing project PHAF Residencia Peshawar into the implementation stage, with major construction activities now underway.
According to details, around 885 housing units are currently under construction. Work on the main boulevard is in progress, while the police station within the project area is near completion with nearly 80% of work already done.
A key component linked to the project is the proposed 10-kilometre dual carriageway from Kohat Road along the Zangali Canal to the site. Officials say this corridor is critical for connectivity and future urban expansion, although its execution has faced delays despite approval and award of contract nearly three years ago.

The project, originally initiated in 2019, experienced setbacks due to land issues. These were later resolved through coordination between PHAF and provincial authorities, including a consensus with local stakeholders in February 2023, enabling land availability and progress on development work. Planning, surveys, and contract awards were subsequently completed.
Once fully developed, PHAF Residencia is expected to include approximately 7,786 housing units and 5,632 apartments, along with a commercial zone designed to attract investment and support economic activity in the region.
Managing Director and CEO of PHAF Muhammad Shahid Hussain said the project is aimed at promoting planned urban growth and addressing housing demand in Peshawar. He added that a second phase is being prepared, which will include construction of an additional 800 housing units, expected to begin by September 2026.
He further noted that the project’s long-term value could be strengthened by planned infrastructure developments in the region, including a proposed new airport in Peshawar, which may enhance accessibility and urban significance of the area.
