Gwadar: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday directed the swift completion of key development projects in Gwadar, including the university and airport, as part of efforts to accelerate socio-economic development in the coastal city.
In a post on social media platform X, the prime minister said he had ordered expedited work on the Gwadar University, Gwadar Airport and the installation of a seawater desalination plant to ensure the provision of clean drinking water to residents.
He also announced progress on several new initiatives during his recent visit to Gwadar, including the groundbreaking of a desalination plant being developed with China’s assistance, as well as industrial and agricultural projects such as a fertilizer plant, an expo center, an agricultural industrial park, and a lubricant plant.

The prime minister said that the development of Pakistan is closely linked to peace, stability and progress in Balochistan. He added that the federal government is working in coordination with the provincial government and local stakeholders to move development projects forward in Gwadar.
During his visit, the prime minister also reviewed ongoing infrastructure work in the city, including the under-construction Gwadar Airport, which is being developed with international assistance.
He further said that continued investment in Gwadar’s infrastructure is essential to improving connectivity, economic opportunity and access to basic facilities for local communities.
