Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread rain, thunderstorms, and wind across various regions of the country from April 1 to April 4, with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms expected in certain areas.
According to the PMD, a westerly wave is expected to enter southwestern Balochistan on April 1 and persist until April 4, affecting several provinces. Balochistan will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, along with isolated hail, in areas including Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Makran Coast, and Lasbela. Flash floods are possible in northeast Balochistan, including Khuzdar, Awaran, and Kharan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to see rain, thunderstorms, and mountain snowfall in districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kalam, with heavy falls and hail in isolated locations. Vulnerable areas in upper K-P, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir face the risk of landslides.

In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, are expected in Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, and surrounding districts. Heavy rainfall is likely in Dera Ghazi Khan and nearby areas.
Sindh, including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, is forecast to receive rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hail from April 2 to April 4. Snowfall is expected in the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK, with isolated heavy rainfall in lower areas.
The PMD warned that windstorms and hail could damage weak structures such as electric poles, billboards, and solar panels. Farmers have been advised to take precautions to protect crops, while tourists and travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during the period. Daytime temperatures are also expected to drop across the country.
Authorities have been called upon to remain vigilant and take preventive measures, as the westerly wave and its associated weather system are expected to continue beyond April 4.
