Quetta: The Balochistan government has approved the establishment of a modern Safe City system across the province, aimed at strengthening security, improving traffic management, and enhancing emergency response mechanisms.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing Safe City initiatives and discussed plans for expanding the project to major cities in the province.
Officials briefed the chief minister that the project will involve the installation of state-of-the-art surveillance cameras and the use of modern technology aligned with contemporary security needs. The Safe City system is expected to improve monitoring, crime prevention, and coordination among law enforcement agencies.

Chief Minister Bugti directed the relevant authorities to immediately remove all administrative, technical, and financial obstacles and to accelerate the pace of implementation. He assured that the provincial government would provide the required financial and technical resources on a priority basis to ensure the project’s timely completion.
The chief minister noted that following Punjab, Balochistan will become the second province in the country to introduce a modern Safe City system, describing the initiative as a significant milestone for the province.
He emphasized that the completion of Safe City projects would contribute to reducing crime rates, improving traffic flow, enhancing emergency response times, and strengthening coordination among security and law enforcement institutions.
