Rawalpindi: The district administration has announced its decision to construct a multi-storey computerised hydraulic parking plaza at Rawalpindi’s Fawara Chowk, a news source reported. As per officials, the initiative aims to address the parking concerns of travellers in the city.
It will comprise parking space for 300 cars and 250 motorcycles. Meanwhile, during the second phase of the project, the authorities concerned will expand it to have space for an additional 200 cars and 250 motorcycles.
To this effect, the officials concerned have begun the process of identifying the exact location for constructing the hydraulic parking plaza. Meanwhile, the district administration will complete the project with the help of private sector, whereas its construction will be carried out on a Built-Operate-Transfer (BOT) system.
On the other hand, during the project’s first phase, the administration will construct the hydraulic parking plaza at Fawara Chowk, Rawalpindi. It has decided this location due to the availability of abundant parking space here.
According to reports, in this commercial parking plaza, vehicles would reach the first, second, third, and fourth floors from the ground floor via a computerised system. The same system will apply to return the vehicles to the ground floor.
Additionally, the district administration, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), and trade association have decided to collaborate for constructing new parking plazas at different points in the city.
