Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has initiated a review of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued for proposed service areas along both sides of the Rawalpindi Ring Road amid concerns that the approvals were granted without the required government authorisation.
Sources said the NOCs were issued by former Rawalpindi district administration officials without prior approval from the provincial government. The government is reviewing the legal, administrative and financial aspects of the approvals, including the record and minutes of the meeting in which the NOCs were discussed.
The review will determine whether the required statutory procedures and rules were followed. If any irregularities are established, action may be taken against those responsible, sources said.
The provincial government will subsequently decide whether the NOCs should remain in force or be revoked.
The development comes as work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road continues to face delays. Fencing, utility relocation and other engineering works remain incomplete at several locations, while relevant departments and agencies are coordinating to resolve outstanding issues.
