Quetta: Gwadar Port is steadily emerging as a key regional trade hub, highlighted by the recent docking of cargo vessel MV Riva Glory carrying 14,629 metric tonnes of goods.
Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch said the arrival reflects growing confidence of international shipping lines in the port, which benefits from modern infrastructure, deep-sea capacity, and efficient logistics.
Port authorities reported smooth and uninterrupted unloading operations, emphasizing operational readiness. Rising cargo volumes are linked to shifting global trade routes, congestion in traditional corridors, and geopolitical uncertainties in the Persian Gulf.

Officials said Gwadar’s strategic location provides connectivity to South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, while ongoing development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is boosting infrastructure, security, and cargo-handling efficiency.
The government encourages industrial development in the Gwadar Free Zone, aiming to attract investment, generate employment, and expand trade. Port authorities anticipate larger vessels and continued growth in cargo volumes, strengthening Gwadar’s role as a regional maritime gateway.
