Karachi: The Sindh government has distributed solar home system kits to 140 eligible households in Tharparkar and Ghotki under its Roshan Ghar – Roshan Sindh initiative aimed at expanding access to clean and affordable energy.
Distribution ceremonies were held in Mithi and Mirpur Mathelo, where 118 households in Tharparkar and 22 in Ghotki received the solar kits.
The initiative is being implemented under the Solar Home System (On-grid/Off-grid) Project, funded by the Sindh Energy Department and executed by the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).

The project aims to provide reliable, affordable and sustainable solar energy solutions to 275,000 households across 30 districts of Sindh through a transparent beneficiary selection process.
According to the government, beneficiaries were selected following surveys, verification and validation in line with the eligibility criteria of the Sindh Solar Energy Programme.
Recipients also received training on the installation, operation and maintenance of the solar home systems to ensure safe use and maximise the lifespan of the equipment.
