Public Transport in DHA, Islamabad
As a whole, DHA, Islamabad is connected to many notable routes and arteries, and as such, quite a few modes of public transportation are readily available near the society. Also, since the area is enormous and is on the outskirts of the city, quite a few minivans operating on a set route can be found all day near DHA, Islamabad.
As for individual phases, Phase 1, DHA, is connected to Defence Avenue and Bahria Expressway, and a couple of bus stops are present nearby. These include Noor Colony Chauraha Bus Stop, situated near Green Fresh Mart, 5 to 10 minutes’ walk away, while Aiman Car Station Bus Stop, located near Defence Phase 1 Head Office, can be walked to in around 6 to 7 minutes.

As for Defence Phase 2, the phase has eight sectors, and it also has many options when it comes to public transport. People living in Sector A, Phase 2, can head to Kahuta Humak Road Junction Bus Stop, reachable in around 5 minutes by car via Jinnah Road. There are not many options of public transport available near Phase 3 since it is under construction, however, going by the success and trends of other phases, the area will soon boast the availability of multiple modes of transportation. Until then, residents of Phase 3 can head to the bus stops near Phase 2, which are about 18 to 20 minutes’ drive away.
Then, the nearest bus stop from Phase 4, DHA, Islamabad, is ARL Colony Bus Stop, which is 9 minutes’ drive away from the centre of Phase 4. STICLE is another bus stop present around 14 minutes’ drive away. Both stops are located on Morgah Road, which is considered one of the significant roads in Phase 4.
As for Phase 5 and Phase 6, multiple bus stops are present nearby, the closest one being Kakpul Bus Stop, which is 15 minutes’ drive away, while Niazian Bus stop near Sahil Khatak Restaurant can be driven to in 14 to 15 minutes.
Also, Public vans, including No. 111, can be found on the Express Highway to Rawat, and minivan No. 136 will drop you close to Bahria Town. You can then quickly take a traditional taxi or rickshaw, or use app-based cab-hailing services to reach DHA, Islamabad.
As for a railway station, the nearest one is Sinhala Railway Station, about 15 to 18 minutes’ drive away from all Phases of DHA. Chakala Railway station, Liaquat Bagh Railway Station, and Railway Station Stop are other railway stations that can be conveniently reached in about half an hour’s drive from all Phases of DHA, Islamabad.
Markets in and near DHA, Islamabad
Most, if not all, projects by DHA feature dedicated commercial areas that are a hit with both investors and business people. The commercial spaces are home to markets, banks, offices, and everything else in between. Similarly, DHA, Islamabad hosts many markets within its boundary for the convenience of residents.
All the phases of DHA, Islamabad are home to at least a couple of general as well as medical and other retail stores. Residents of Phase 1 can comfortably go to DHA Green and Fresh Mart in Sector B. It will hardly take some 5 to 8 minutes’ walk to reach this store. It is a neat and clean shop with quality groceries, vegetables, fruits, meat, and dairy items. Besides, Omnia Grocery Store is situated adjacent to Fresh Mart. You can conveniently reach the store in 8 to 10 minutes on foot.
Next, Babu Market, Unique Fair Price Shop, Umer Electric Works, Arslan General Store, and Ajmeree Street Khota Klan are some of the well-known stores around the area. All these stores are situated on Rabia Banglows Road and can be reached on foot in 10 to 15 minutes.
As for Phase 2, DHA, Islamabad, the area is equipped with several mini-marts and grocery stores. To begin with, Greens Fruit and Vegetable Store is 10 minutes’ walk away from Sector D. For grocery shopping, residents can head to Marhaba Cash and Carry Convenience Store, reachable in 8 to 10 minutes.

Since Sector 3 of DHA Islamabad is still under construction, there's a lack of convenience stores. However, a few stores that are situated nearby include Pakeeza Cash and Carry Store, located on Talha Road near ASL School, reachable in 10 to 12 minutes by car.
The famous Sector F Market is a 6 minutes’ drive away, while Lilly Market can be driven to in 12 minutes from Sector 3. Next, River Garden Market takes 9 minutes by car to reach, and Shalimar Market can be reached in a drive of 12 minutes from Sir Syed Boulevard. However, Al Ghani Market and the central Rawalpindi City Market take around 30 minutes by car to reach from DHA, Islamabad.
DHA Phase 4 hosts Khattak General Store, only 3 to 4 minutes’ walk away, while Haji Aslam Market is a famous grocery market that can be reached by foot in 5 to 6 minutes. Plus, this phase also features a Bachat Mall, which is a mini-mart, located on Askari Boulevard. It will hardly take 10 minutes’ walk to reach this mart. For dairy and meat, residents can head to Akhtar Chicken Shop and its nearby market, which can be reached in 10 to 15 minutes.
Phase 5 of DHA, Islamabad is home to Good Supermarket, situated near Emaar Canyon Views, Sector N. Residents can reach this mart in just 5 to 7 minutes. As far as Phase 6, DHA, Islamabad is concerned, not many options are available here since it is under construction. However, residents and people living nearby can go to Feroz Khan Shop to shop for everyday goods.
Mosques in and near DHA, Islamabad
DHA, Islamabad is an adequately planned locality with every phase being home to mosques for residents to take care of their religious obligations with ease. As for DHA Phase 1, keeping Ameen Car Station as our central point, the closest mosque is situated in Sector A, which requires only a minute’s walk to reach. Masjid Falah Mosque in Sector B takes 4 minutes to reach, while Jamia Mosque Sector B, Phase 1, is 3 minutes’ walk away. Besides, Sarfaraz Mosque, Masjid Gulzar, and Sector B1 Masjid are located on Defence Avenue Road and can be reached on foot in 10 minutes. A few other mosques around Phase 1 include Masjid Muhammadabad Aurania, Al Amin Mosque, Masjid Sulemania, Jamarah, Bilal Mosque, and Jama Masjid Arl Jump stop.
All of these mosques are 10 minutes’ drive away. As for Phase 2, Sector D mosque near BasketBall Court can be reached in 2 to 3 minutes, and the mosque near parking basement can be reached in 5 minutes’ walk away from main Sir Syed Boulevard. Sector E mosque in lane 14/A near Athlon Market Sport is only 6 minutes’ walk away, while Mosque Local on Lane 13, Sector E can be reached in 8 minutes. Moreover, Sector G Mosque near DHAI Army Public School can be reached in 10 minutes, and Sector J Mosque, near 24/7 Cash and Carry, can be reached in 8 minutes.
Jamia Masjid Noor near Cemetery, Mosque Sector B near Fauji Fertilizer, Bin Qasim Limited, can be reached in 10 minutes.
The mosques nearest to Phase 3 are Serene City Mosque, situated on Street 6, DHA Serene City Zone 1, reachable in 6 minutes. The phase lacks an abundance of mosques since it is under development. For Phase 4, Masjid Bilal Garden Villas is the nearest, and it can be reached in 6 minutes. Masjid Abdullah Bin Masaood is also 15 minutes’ drive away.
Phase 5 is packed with dozens of mosques, take, for example, Jamia Masjid DHA Phase 5 near Khan Food and Restaurant, Jamia Masjid in Sector A, near Chaudhary Market, a mosque on DHA Expressway, Jamia Masjid Chak Mori near roots Emaar School, and dedicated mosques in every sector. Since Phase 3 and 6 are under construction, there are not many options present when it comes to schools. Even the nearest school is 15 to 20 minutes’ drive away. Islamabad Model School for Girls Bhangril Khurd on GT Road, Bhangril, LEADS School System Bahria Town Campus, and SLS Montessori School in Zaraj Housing Society, Sector B are a few schools to name. As for Phase 6, it has yet to host a school.
Phase 4 is also one of the most developed phases of DHA. Residents of Phase 4 won’t have to send their children to a school far away from their homes. There is Kalri Govt School near Kalri Darbar on Adyala Road. You can easily reach the school in 10 minutes. Mini Start School and Academy in Sector 1, Gulshan Abad, can be reached by foot in 10 minutes.
