Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday conducted a balloting ceremony to allot 720 newly constructed apartments to homeless industrial workers at the Sundar Industrial Estate, marking a major welfare initiative for the province’s labour force.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the process by pressing a button and personally congratulated several successful applicants over the phone. She described the initiative as a reflection of a “motherly state,” ensuring that hardworking families would now have homes of their own, freeing them from rent burdens and the risk of eviction.
Special provisions were made for widows, persons with disabilities, and residents requiring ground-floor apartments for ease of access and safety. CM Maryam Nawaz directed that possession of the apartments be handed over to successful allottees within seven days.
