Lahore: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund the installation of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) metres in Lahore and Islamabad, a news source reported. The metres will be installed by the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), and the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).
The installation of metres under LESCO will require a financing pact of up to USD 300 million, while another USD 188 million will be required for the installations carried out under IESCO.
Various firms have already submitted their bids for the project under LESCO, which are currently being analysed. Meanwhile, the bid ready for IESCO is expected to be published soon.
A review meeting on the progress of project undertaken by the said two power generation companies was held on Wednesday, with Secretary Power Division Irfan Ali in the chair.
Ali expressed satisfaction over the process. He also emphasised that transparency should be ensured during all stages of project execution. He further directed that the AMI metres chosen should be user-friendly for the benefit of consumers.
