Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has inaugurated its cashless One-Window Directorate as part of efforts to make Islamabad Pakistan’s first cashless model city.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Mohammad Ali Randhawa inaugurated the new digital payment system at the One-Window Facilitation Centre. The event was attended by Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, DG Building Control, directors of the One-Window and Estate wings, CEO Finnect Shah Nawaz Mahmood, Bank Alfalah representative Faraz Yar Khan, and officials from other banks and financial institutions.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr Randhawa said the initiative has been launched in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to facilitate citizens and promote e-governance. “The purpose of this initiative is to make Islamabad Pakistan’s first cashless model city,” he stated.

Officials briefed the participants on the procedures for cashless transactions, including the integration of QR codes and multiple digital payment platforms such as EasyPaisa and JazzCash. The CDA chairman also conducted a digital transaction to review the system’s functionality.
He added that the introduction of the cashless system would enhance transparency, efficiency, and convenience for citizens using CDA’s services. “This step will also promote a cashless economy in the capital. Direct QR codes have already been introduced in weekly bazaars, and the system will soon be expanded to markets and shopping centres across the city,” he said.
Randhawa further mentioned that all public services will eventually be available under one roof through the “Assan Khidmat Markaz,” ensuring a more professional and corporate approach to service delivery.
The initiative, he added, will give citizens the freedom to choose from various banks and financial institutions for digital transactions and will include facilities such as e-challan payments.
