Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed a building in Sector G-6 on account of ‘non-conforming’ usage, according to a news source. The building’s plot had originally been allocated for a wedding hall. However, a department store had been built in the basement – with the owner having converted the rest of the structure into offices and apartments.
A CDA spokesperson revealed that no provision for a departmental store setup had been given to the owner. The basement was supposed to be a parking space instead.
He also stated that such conversions are subject to a fee payment, which the owner had not paid. CDA had sealed this building last year as well. The authority unsealed it later due to court orders.
The building’s owner did not get a completion certificate either. This document is necessary for all new buildings. It also covers all safety measures. This is part of CDA’s ongoing drive against illegal practices.
