Karachi — The Coastal Development Zone in Karachi is set to undergo a major transformation with a USD 3 billion investment from China, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal announced during a high-level meeting on the project.
Describing the initiative as a significant milestone not only for Karachi’s economy but for the entire country, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the project’s potential to set new standards in urban development. The meeting, attended by Sindh Chief Minister, federal ministers for Maritime Affairs and Board of Investment, and senior officials, reviewed the progress and outlined a coordinated action plan for the development.

A key aspect of the project involves land reclamation from the sea, which will enable the construction of advanced infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities in the Coastal Development Zone. The minister urged all involved departments to work closely together to ensure timely implementation and completion.
In addition, efforts are underway in collaboration with the National Highway Authority (NHA) to devise solutions that will alleviate the growing pressure on Karachi Port, further enhancing the city’s economic capacity.
This ambitious project is expected to position Karachi as a model for urban development, boosting economic growth and improving the quality of life for residents.
