Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has issued comprehensive guidelines for customers visiting restaurants, hotels and coffee shops across the province to promote transparency in tax payments and facilitate the issuance and verification of digital receipts.
Under the new guidelines, eateries will not be allowed to issue kitchen orders, unpaid bills, pre-bills or temporary bills to customers, according to a PRA spokesperson. Food chains, restaurants, hotels and coffee shops have also been directed to prominently display the guidelines at their premises.
The PRA urged customers to obtain a digital receipt after making payment whenever they avail themselves of services at such establishments. Customers should verify the business name, address and Punjab Taxpayer Registration Number (PNTN) stated on the receipt.

The authority said a digital receipt must include details of the order, the applicable tax rate, the amount before tax, the total amount, the PRA invoice number and PRA QR code. Customers can scan the QR code to verify the transaction details.
The PRA also advised customers to immediately report businesses that refuse to accept digital or card payments. Complaints can be lodged through the authority’s social media platforms, the PRA Sahulat application or WhatsApp at 0343-0000772.
The spokesperson said obtaining digital receipts was essential for ensuring transparency in tax payments and urged citizens to verify their receipts to help safeguard the taxes they pay for the development and prosperity of Punjab.
