Lahore: The Punjab Local Government Department has officially launched an e-auction system for the leasing of cattle markets across the province, aiming to ensure transparency, reduce corruption, and streamline the entire auction process. With Eidul Azha approaching, the timing of the launch is key to managing the high demand for cattle market leasing during the festive period. The initiative will allow contractors to participate in the leasing process through an online bidding system, thus eliminating the need for manual procedures that often lead to delays and inefficiencies. The system also aims to facilitate smoother transactions by providing a platform for digital payments, further enhancing convenience for bidders.
Online registration for contractors is already underway and will remain open until May 13. This registration process includes provisions for digital payment, allowing contractors to pay registration fees and other dues through the e-auction portal. The bidding itself will commence on May 21 at 9 a.m. and will run until 6 p.m. on May 23, giving ample time for contractors to place their bids.
In addition to the online bidding, successful bidders will be required to pay a security deposit digitally. All auction results, including bid statements and official certificates, will also be issued in digital format, further ensuring the system’s transparency and accountability.
The launch of the e-auction system is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to modernize local governance and bring efficiency to the management of public resources. This digital initiative also represents a significant step forward in promoting good governance by curbing malpractices and increasing the accessibility of services.
