Mansehra: The district administration has directed the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) to expedite the reopening of the Saiful Muluk Road after a section of the route linking the tourist destination with Naran was washed away by flash floods last week.
According to an order issued by the deputy commissioner, a team of revenue officials led by the assistant commissioner on special duty inspected the damaged road and found it unsafe for travel.
The administration directed the KDA to immediately deploy machinery and undertake restoration work on a priority basis to reopen the route and facilitate the resumption of tourism activities.
The road was closed to traffic after cloudburst-triggered flash floods damaged the artery. Around 200 jeeps carrying stranded tourists were rescued on July 30 before the route was shut for public safety.
The district administration noted that the ongoing tourism season is at its peak and Saiful Muluk Lake remains one of the region’s most visited attractions, underscoring the need for the road’s early restoration.
The business community welcomed the decision, saying the reopening of the route would help revive tourism-related activities in the area.
