Faisalabad: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced plans to develop a new airport in Faisalabad, with the process of hiring consultants already underway.
According to officials, firms have been invited to submit proposals for preparing the project’s feasibility study, master plan, and design. The deadline for applications has been set for October 12.
The new airport is expected to improve connectivity for Faisalabad, one of Pakistan’s major industrial and textile hubs, by meeting growing passenger and cargo demands.
In a related development, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier Flyadeal is expanding operations in Pakistan. From August 26, the airline will launch direct flights between Sialkot and Riyadh, offering three weekly services on Airbus A320 aircraft. The carrier has recently announced four new routes to Pakistan, with the Sialkot–Riyadh link being the latest addition.
