Karachi: During the year 2017-18, the aggregate of foreign investment reached USD 4.97 billion, a news source reported. This is an increase of more than 100% from the year 2016-17.
However, according to State Bank statistics, the increase in direct investment was just 1%. The foreign investments remained high because the federal government auctioned investment bonds worth USD 2.45 billion.
According to the statistics, the direct foreign investment during 2017-18 stood at USD 2.76 billion. During the year 2017-18 as well, the top foreign investor in Pakistan was China.
