Rawalpindi: Feasibility studies have been launched to promote tourism in the hill tehsils of Murree and Kotli Sattian, with projects including two new chairlifts, glamping pod villages, a modern theme park, and Pakistan’s first sky glass bridge.
The Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) has allocated Rs150 million for the studies, which are expected to be completed within three months. Officials said the projects aim to enhance tourist facilities and showcase the natural beauty of the Rawalpindi Division’s hill regions.
A chairlift is planned for the scenic but rugged Panj Peer mountain range in Kotli Sattian, while another will be installed at a newly identified tourist site in Murree. The proposed sky glass bridge in Murree would be the first of its kind in the country, offering panoramic views to visitors.

Plans also include the establishment of jungle theme parks in both tehsils, with private sector involvement expected in their development. Existing glamping pods will be expanded, with two or three additional sites under consideration to provide modern accommodation options.
TDCP Managing Director Asim Raza said Kotli Sattian has been designated as Punjab’s model tourism tehsil. “It is emerging as a new tourist destination, blessed with green forests, rugged mountains, waterfalls, and natural springs,” he noted.
The initiatives are also expected to involve local groups such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in tourism activities, further integrating community participation into the region’s development.
