Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved multi-billion-rupee relief and rehabilitation measures for families affected by recent floods, alongside allocations for food security, health, and infrastructure restoration.
The decisions were taken during a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The cabinet sanctioned a supplementary grant of PKR 20 billion to strengthen the provincial relief and rehabilitation fund, aimed at supporting flood-hit communities.
The meeting also approved expansion of the Food Stamp Programme to cover more low-income families across the province. In addition, the cabinet approved allocations for restoration of health services, water supply schemes, and connectivity in flood-affected districts.

Compensation for families of flood victims and those of Shuhada (martyrs) was also approved. The cabinet stressed that relief efforts would be carried out in coordination with relevant departments to ensure swift and transparent disbursement.
Chief Minister Gandapur directed authorities to accelerate relief and rehabilitation operations, saying the government’s priority was to ensure that “no affected family is left without support.”
The measures come as KP faces mounting economic and humanitarian challenges in the aftermath of heavy rains and flooding, which damaged homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods across several districts.
