In the first phase, the system will pilot AI-based approvals for residential building plans up to 5 marla. The pilot will allow the LDA to identify and resolve any issues in the process before expanding the system to larger projects.
DG Tahir Farooq stated that LDA will be the first institution in Pakistan to use AI for building plan approvals. The system will enable automated scrutiny and approval of maps, reducing human error and speeding up the process.
The LDA and UET teams aim to complete the pilot project in the coming weeks, after which the AI-based system will be gradually implemented for wider use in Lahore’s town planning activities.
