Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the establishment of a new industrial estate in Sialkot, covering 400 acres of land near Sialkot International Airport, to promote regional industrialisation and attract foreign investment.
The decision was made during a meeting held on Wednesday to review the performance and future plans of industrial estates across the province. The chief minister also approved offering four industrial estates to foreign investors, while industrial zones in Bhalwal, Vehari, and Bahawalpur are being considered for potential investment from Saudi investors.
In a significant policy move, the chief minister directed that the Chunian Industrial Estate be transferred to the Fisheries Department, marking a shift aimed at promoting sector-specific industrial utilisation.

Maryam Nawaz also instructed officials to review and restructure the existing policy framework governing industrial estates in Punjab to improve transparency, efficiency, and investor confidence.
Officials briefed the chief minister that the new Sialkot Industrial Estate will be developed with modern infrastructure and facilities to support export-oriented industries and strengthen Punjab’s industrial base.
The initiatives, according to the provincial government, reflect its commitment to industrial growth, job creation, and responsible governance, aimed at revitalising Punjab’s economic landscape and enhancing its appeal to international investors.
