Gujranwala: During a crackdown launched against factories causing air pollution, the Environment Project Agency (EPA) has issued notices to the owners of 48 factories, a news source reported. The department is taking early measures to prevent smog during the winter season.
For this purpose, the EPA has also decided to shut down kilns operating on conventional technology. At the same time, sources within the EPA have revealed that the preparations to launch a mega crackdown against factories and mills causing pollution have also been finalised.
As part of this operation, the EPA issued notices to 48 factories creating air pollution. These factory owners have been directed to fix their exhaust systems before the start of the winter season or the EPA will seal their factories.
Furthermore, the agency has also informed owners of over 300 kilns to convert their units to zigzag technology. In the case of non-compliance, the EPA will shut these kilns down for two months.
