Lahore: Senior Advisor to the Chief Minister Punjab, Senator Anusha Rehman, and Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain jointly chaired a meeting on Tuesday regarding the development of Nawaz Sharif IT City Faisalabad.
The session was attended by key officials, including Zaheer Hassan, Dr. Irfan, Director GSI, CBD, and Sameer Aftab. Discussions focused on the establishment of an IT city within the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company economic zone.
Key topics included the construction of data centres, technology zones, and digital infrastructure for the IT city. Officials also reviewed existing facilities and industries operating in FIEDMC to align the new development with the area’s current economic activity.

During the meeting, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain highlighted that FIEDMC spans 8,000 acres and employs around 4,000 people, with several large foreign companies planning to set up industries in the future. Both officials emphasized the need to explore options for collaboration between FIEDMC and the IT city project to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure and services.
Senator Anusha Rehman briefed attendees on the scope of the IT city project, explaining that it is being designed as a comprehensive technology ecosystem intended to support innovation, attract investment, and strengthen the digital economy in the region. She stated, “NSIT is not just a building or infrastructure project but a platform for sustainable development that will connect people with modern technology and create employment opportunities.”
The meeting concluded with an agreement that the IT Department, in collaboration with FIEDMC, will move forward with planning and implementation of the Nawaz Sharif IT City Faisalabad project, including the development of digital infrastructure, technology zones, and supporting facilities to ensure a modern, functional IT hub.
