Murree: The Murree Police have launched a “Safe Tourism App”, aiming to transform traditional policing into a technology-driven system for tourists, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer, said the application meets international standards and acts as a 24/7 “Virtual Tourist Guide”. It integrates multiple departments, including the Police, Rescue 1122, District Administration, Traffic Police, Motorway Police, and Meteorological Department, into a single digital platform.

The app provides immediate access to emergency services, live weather and traffic updates, and features a Virtual Women Police Station to prioritise the safety of women and families. An AI-powered chatbot offers instant guidance on navigation, road conditions, and tourist routes.
To enhance accountability, the platform includes a “Text to DPO” facility, allowing tourists to lodge complaints or report emergencies via WhatsApp. A Smart Tourism Directory lists hotels, hospitals, workshops, police stations, and verified recreational sites with GPS-enabled live locations.
Dr Tanveer said the initiative “seeks to safeguard Murree’s tradition of hospitality through modern technology” and urged domestic and international visitors to download the app from the Google Play Store before travelling to ensure a safe and organised journey.
