Islamabad: Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday said illegal constructions and the “land mafia” would be completely eliminated from Islamabad, reaffirming the government’s support for ongoing anti-encroachment operations in the federal capital.
The remarks were made during a meeting jointly chaired by Naqvi and Tallal Chaudhry to review development and enforcement matters in Islamabad.
According to the interior ministry, Naqvi said the anti-encroachment drive would continue “without any pressure until it achieves its final result.”

For the past two months, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been carrying out operations against illegal constructions and encroachments, particularly in katchi abadis and informal settlements across Islamabad.
The meeting also reviewed several civic development projects in the capital. Officials discussed plans to establish sewage treatment plants to stop untreated wastewater from flowing into Rawal Dam through streams and nullahs.
In addition, progress on the construction of 11 new police stations, the upgradation of the Capital Police College, and a proposed new Convention Centre in Islamabad was reviewed. Officials informed the meeting that three international companies had submitted designs for the Convention Centre and the evaluation process was underway.
Naqvi directed authorities to expedite ongoing development work and ensure timely completion of key projects.
