He said the government’s PKR 200 billion Peshawar Revitalisation Plan is a comprehensive development initiative focused on urban improvement and provision of modern facilities. According to him, projects worth PKR 171 billion under the plan have already been approved.
The chief minister highlighted that the provincial government has delivered major infrastructure projects, including the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Peshawar system, and is now focusing on broader urban development under the revitalisation programme.
He rejected allegations of corruption in development projects, saying that anyone with evidence should present it so that action can be taken.
During his address, Afridi also raised concerns over federal fiscal distribution, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not receiving its due share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. He said that if the NFC formula is revised, the province’s share could increase from 14.6% to 19%.
He further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produces around 400 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas, of which only 150 MMCFD is consumed within the province, while the remainder is supplied to other parts of the country. He added that under the Constitution, the province has the first right over its natural resources.
