Lahore: The Punjab government has established the Asset Management Authority of Punjab (AMAP) under an ordinance to manage, develop, monetise and dispose of provincial government assets.
The Asset Management Authority of Punjab Ordinance, 2026, promulgated by the governor under Article 128(1) of the Constitution, came into force with immediate effect across the province while the Punjab Assembly was not in session.
The new statutory authority is tasked with identifying and managing government assets and unlocking their commercial potential through transparent and market-based mechanisms.

The ordinance aims to facilitate collaboration with local and foreign private investors to generate non-tax revenue, attract investment, create employment and support economic growth.
According to the ordinance’s preamble, the authority will seek to improve the utilisation of government assets, enhance provincial revenues and exports, improve public service delivery and promote sustainable economic development.
The authority will have powers to acquire, develop, manage, monetise and dispose of provincial government assets as provided under the new legal framework.
