According to Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza, the development of these underpasses and parking plazas will help improve the city’s traffic system within a time frame of two to three years.
Additionally, the planned parking plazas will be developed under the private-public partnership (PPP) arrangement – in commercial areas and markets. The authority concerned will also construct an additional floor in the Fawara Chowk parking plaza to increase its parking capacity.
As per the information shared by the news source, these plazas will be constructed in Kacheri Chowk, Bani Market, on City Saddar Road and Ghazni Road. Moreover, for the construction of these underpasses, the RDA has reportedly initiated the survey to determine the projects feasibility status. According to the RDA’s proposals, Murree Road’s entrance point, Mareer Chowk and Liaqat Bagh Chowk urgently need the development of underpasses to ease the traffic issue.
