Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued strict safety directives for all construction sites under its jurisdiction, following instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman.
Under the new guidelines, construction sites must be properly fenced or barricaded, equipped with functional CCTV cameras, and adequately lit at night. Clear safety signboards are to be installed, and workers are required to strictly follow prescribed safety protocols and standards.

The DG of RDA, Kinza Murtaza, directed relevant directorates to conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance, warning that violations would lead to legal action, including fines and sealing of non-compliant sites.
“Protection of the lives and property of the public and labourers is the government’s top priority, and no negligence will be tolerated,” Murtaza said. She emphasized that developers, contractors, and site managers must take personal responsibility for implementing the safety measures.
Citizens were advised to report emergencies or safety concerns at construction sites via the RDA helpline at 051-9334904. The directives aim to strengthen construction safety amid ongoing development activities and increased public movement near construction zones.
