Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has introduced QR-coded allotment letters for all approved housing schemes, officials said, in a major step to prevent over-selling of plots.
According to RDA Director-General Kinza Murtaza, the new system will ensure that only the exact number of available plots in each housing scheme can be allotted, as QR codes will be generated strictly for the authorized number of plots. The move is aimed at increasing transparency and accountability in the plot allotment process.

During a meeting chaired by DG Murtaza, officials were also assigned new departmental responsibilities to enhance performance and service delivery across RDA-approved schemes under the Suthra Punjab initiative. She directed the Estate Management wing to maintain cleanliness, lighting, water supply, and access routes across all thirteen schemes.
DG Murtaza emphasized the importance of on-site verification, stating she will personally inspect private housing schemes to ensure cemetery land, boundary measurements, and public-use facilities such as parks, commercial areas, dispensaries, playgrounds, and roads are properly implemented.
She also reiterated her commitment to pursuing cases of irregularities in schemes such as University Town Housing Scheme, highlighting the RDA’s role as a strong and effective development authority. Constructive media criticism, she added, is welcomed to improve governance and transparency.
