Lahore: The Punjab government has approved a summary proposing a reduction in traffic fines across multiple vehicle categories, with final approval to be sought from the Punjab Assembly.
Prepared by the Punjab Traffic Police, the proposal aims to ease the financial burden on citizens while maintaining enforcement of traffic laws.
Under the proposed revisions, fines for motorcycle violations will be reduced from PKR 2,000 to PKR 1,000, with a maximum of PKR 2,000 for serious offences. For rickshaws, penalties are set to drop from PKR 3,000 to PKR 1,000, while major violations may carry fines of up to PKR 2,000.
Fines for cars and jeeps are proposed to be lowered from PKR 5,000 to PKR 3,000, although penalties for serious violations will remain unchanged at PKR 5,000.
