Karachi: The Sindh government and the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) have reached an agreement to issue the Benazir Bhutto Mazdoor Card soon — with the initiative aimed at offering more facilities to workers and labourers, a news source reported on September 4.
Sindh Education & Labour Minister Saeed Ghani revealed that the government would issue the Benazir Bhutto Mazdoor Card on January 1, 2021. Speaking at the agreement-signing ceremony between NADRA and the Sindh Employees’ Social Security Institution (Sessi), he said that in the first phase, the provincial government would issue 625,000 cards to workers and labourers having manual cards under Sessi.
The minister said that he hoped the provincial government would be able to provide the card to five million labourers in the next phase of the initiative. He added that through this process, they want to bring all workers into the network, including those that work in factories and mills, along with the ones doing their own work.
