Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to ensure the timely execution of the Lahore Development Plan, setting a firm deadline of June 30 for the completion of critical urban development projects across the city.
Chairing a high-level meeting on urban infrastructure, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to monthly timelines and implementing a transparent monitoring system to track progress. She also conducted visual inspections of several projects, underlining her commitment to hands-on oversight.

The Lahore Development Plan involves the rehabilitation and construction of a total of 3,705 streets under the jurisdiction of the Lahore Municipal Corporation. Additionally, 230 streets managed by WASA Lahore and 1,573 streets under WASA Works are set for much-needed repairs and upgrades.
Key areas such as Allama Iqbal Town, Aziz Bhatti Town, and Wagah Town have been identified as priority zones in this development phase. The goal is to significantly improve infrastructure for the residents and ensure long-term urban sustainability.
Speaking during the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz voiced her concern over any potential delays and reiterated her dedication to public welfare. “Delays in development schemes disrupt daily life. I consider myself accountable to the people and cannot tolerate any difficulties for them,” she stated.

In addition to street rehabilitation, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the innovative ‘Sahulat-on-the-Go Bazaars’ pilot project, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Punjab. These mobile markets aim to provide residents with convenient access to essential goods. A total of 816 stalls have already been set up at 14 different locations in Lahore using government land adjacent to roads.
CM Nawaz has directed that the pilot project be completed within four months, with further expansion depending on its success. The initiative is expected to ease congestion in traditional markets and offer affordable shopping options to citizens.

By combining infrastructure development with community-centric initiatives, the Punjab government under Maryam Nawaz is taking steps to address both immediate urban needs and long-term growth.
