Faisalabad: The Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has forwarded a proposal for a PKR 885 million sewerage project to the Government of Punjab for approval, a news source reported. The project has been designed in accordance to the guidance and suggestions given by the international water organisations.
If the Punjab Government approves the project, WASA Faisalabad will be able to start work on it by January 2020.
WASA Faisalabad has prepared the project based on the plan shared by Japan International Corporation Agency and similar Europe-based water companies. The project is designed accordingly to set up separate drains for storm water and sewerage water. WASA has also been advised to use the storm water to regenerate the underground water table, instead of channelling this water to storm drains.
Reportedly, WASA plans to lay separate sewerage lines in different phases. Similarly, the water agency is also looking to increase capacity for the sewerage system meant for Samundari Road.
