Lahore: Preparations are underway in Lahore for the Basant festival, which will be celebrated from February 6 to 8, with authorities finalizing venues, safety measures, and administrative arrangements.
According to local reports, selected locations for the festivities include Greater Iqbal Park, Jallo Park, Jilani Park, Gulshan Iqbal Park, and Model Town Park. Officials have also indicated that some areas of the Walled City may be opened for Basant activities.
Authorities have announced a complete ban on metallic, wire, and chemical-coated kite strings to ensure public safety. To encourage compliance, a reward of Rs. 5,000 will be offered to individuals who report the use of banned kite strings. Kite flying will be permitted only with traditional or weak glass-coated manja.

Special monitoring teams will remain active throughout the festival to prevent violations and ensure the safety of citizens, property, and public spaces. Officials emphasized that all necessary security and administrative arrangements are being put in place to make the celebrations safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.
