Lahore: The Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab) has successfully addressed a decades-old issue of urban flooding on Walton Road and CBD Route 47 by implementing a state-of-the-art drainage system. This modern infrastructure solution effectively prevented water accumulation during the recent pre-monsoon spell, which brought 58mm of rainfall to the city.
For the first time in over 30 years, no ponding or waterlogging was reported on Walton Road—an area historically prone to severe drainage issues. The new drainage network allowed for smooth traffic flow and uninterrupted mobility during heavy rain, bringing immediate relief to residents, businesses, and daily commuters.
Designed and executed by CBD Punjab, the drainage system works by efficiently redirecting stormwater into CBC Lake, significantly reducing the risk of flooding in surrounding areas. This initiative is part of the authority’s broader commitment to building resilient and sustainable urban infrastructure in Lahore.

The authority’s focus on long-term planning and strategic infrastructure is seen as a key driver in shaping a smarter and more livable city.
