Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have agreed to accelerate work on upgrading Islamabad’s gas supply network, starting with the replacement of old pipelines in Sector G-6 and the Blue Area.
The decision was made during a meeting between CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and SNGPL General Manager Adnan Ahmed at CDA Headquarters on Monday.
According to SNGPL officials, the process of replacing the decades-old pipelines has already begun. The initiative aims to reduce gas leaks and losses, while ensuring a more reliable supply for residents, particularly during the winter months.

Chairman Randhawa assured full support from CDA and noted that its Engineering and Environment Wings have already issued the necessary NOCs to SNGPL. He stressed that the installation work must be completed before winter to avoid seasonal shortages.
He also directed SNGPL to provide gas connections to the Gandhara Citizen Center in F-9 at the earliest. In response, the SNGPL chief said the company is adopting an effective strategy to enhance gas pressure and improve distribution, with measures expected to be in place before the onset of cold weather.
The project is expected to provide significant relief to residents of Islamabad who have long faced low gas pressure and supply issues during winter.
