Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a comprehensive crackdown on illegal housing and cooperative societies in Islamabad, following directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The operation will be led by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and aims to bring all unapproved projects under regulatory control through a structured enforcement mechanism.
As part of the new action plan, the CDA will divide these societies into specific categories based on their jurisdiction and legal status. Separate lists will be prepared for housing schemes falling under CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to ensure clearer accountability and focused action.

Chairman Randhawa has instructed officials to compile detailed data for each housing society, including layout plans, NOC (No Objection Certificate) status, land allotment records, and evidence of unauthorized file sales or illegal expansion. The objective is to identify violations and initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for unregulated development.
The CDA has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward unauthorized construction and land encroachment. Developers involved in illegal activity will face strict penalties, including demolition of structures, cancellation of files, and legal action.
To raise public awareness and protect potential buyers, the CDA will publish an updated list of illegal societies on its official website. Officials also warned citizens against investing in unapproved housing schemes, highlighting the risks associated with non-compliant projects.
In an additional measure, the CDA will target suppliers providing construction materials to these unauthorized societies to curb further development.

The initiative is aimed at restoring discipline in urban development and safeguarding public interest by ensuring that only approved, legally compliant housing schemes are allowed to operate in the capital.
