Lahore: The Punjab government has signed an investment agreement with China’s Skywell New Energy Vehicles Group to establish a large-scale electric vehicle (EV) assembly plant in the province’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Under the agreement, the Chinese company will set up its operations on 75 acres of land, focusing on the production of electric buses, cars, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and other EV models. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Punjab Minister for Industries & Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Skywell CEO Mr Biwan Han.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) Office, Minister Hussain welcomed the investment and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the development of the EV sector in the province. He emphasized that promoting environmentally friendly transport and industrialisation is a key priority of the provincial government.
The minister added that the government will provide all necessary facilities to investors in the electric mobility space, including those involved in the production of EV batteries and the installation of charging infrastructure.
Mr Biwan Han stated that Skywell intends to manufacture electric vehicles for both local distribution and export. He also highlighted the group’s long-term commitment to expanding Pakistan’s EV footprint.

Officials assured that the government would offer comprehensive security and policy support to both domestic and foreign investors. The new facility is expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the region’s industrial growth.
