Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a citywide rehabilitation plan aimed at upgrading infrastructure across all sectors of Islamabad, officials said. The initiative includes uniform road repairs, streetlight restoration, and drainage improvements throughout the capital.
The decision came during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, where officials reviewed surveys assessing the condition of roads, streets, and commercial centers. Preliminary cost estimates for older sectors have also been finalized.
Under the plan, all sectors will receive consistent road carpeting, patchwork, and reconstruction. Existing footpaths will be repaired, and new ones added where necessary. Streetlights and poles will be restored or newly installed to improve safety and visibility.

Commercial hubs, including Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company, and the Blue Area, will also be upgraded. The CDA will coordinate with traders and business associations to minimize disruptions during the work.
The rehabilitation program includes new signage, lane markings, rubber speed breakers, and upgrades to sewerage and drainage networks, including manholes and curb stones. Experienced architects will be involved in beautification efforts to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal.
Chairman Randhawa directed officials to use internal resources and modern machinery to execute the plan efficiently, emphasizing that the initiative aims to improve civic services while restoring Islamabad’s overall environment.
