Multan: Multan Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Khattak has ordered his district officers to demolish the buildings and structures constructed in violation of the stipulated building bylaws, a news source reported. The DC gave these orders while presiding over a District Design and Commercialisation Committee meeting held on May 14.
DC Khattak also formed a special district inspection committee to conduct a survey of buildings that violate the building bylaws notified by the Multan Development Authority. He specifically demanded the details of the approval status of commercial buildings and petrol pumps in the city. The team is to present its report to the DC in one week.
Addressing the meeting, Khattak instructed the district officers to serve immediate notices to the owners of such buildings. He indicated that a crackdown will be launched once the inspection committee shares its findings.
The DC also instructed the officials of Multan Municipal Corporation and Multan Development Authority to form a commercialisation plan to improve the city’s infrastructure. Khattak also directed the officers concerned to disallow construction work on any structure before all departments are involved.
