Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has directed the relevant authorities to identify and develop new tourist destinations in Kolai-Palas and Allai as part of the provincial government’s efforts to unlock the tourism potential of Hazara Division.
The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House, where the chief minister reviewed progress on development projects, law and order, governance, public service delivery and grievance redressal across the division.

Describing tourism as a strategic priority for the provincial government, CM Afridi said new destinations should be developed to attract more visitors and support economic activity in the region.
Officials informed the meeting that PKR 500 million has been allocated under the Khushhal Hazara Package for tourism development projects. The chief minister instructed the relevant departments to ensure the provision of quality infrastructure and hospitality services for domestic and international tourists, noting that a positive visitor experience contributes to the province’s image.
He also directed authorities to prepare dedicated traffic management plans for major tourist destinations to facilitate the smooth movement of visitors during peak tourism seasons.
The meeting also addressed longstanding administrative issues in the region. CM Afridi ordered the formation of a commission to work towards a permanent resolution of the boundary dispute between Chor Mali Valley and Baleej Valley in the Kolai-Palas and Battagram districts, directing the immediate initiation of the required legal and administrative procedures.

Reviewing monsoon preparedness, the chief minister instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and fully operationalise contingency plans to ensure a timely response to any emergency situation.
